Northern data Ag debugs the first data center in the Netherlands

due to the strong demand for high-performance computing infrastructure, An important step needs to be taken in expansion

more sites have been planned shortly before the trial run

by the end of the first quarter of 2021, 404 petaflop (40.4 billion floating-point operations per second) computing capacity

Northern data AG (xetra: Nb2, isin: de000a0smu87), a leading high-performance computing (HPC) solution provider, is debugging its latest HPC data center near Maastricht. This new facility will require one of the world's largest graphics processor (GPU) clusters and will become the company's first data center point in the EU. The company will start installing the first batch of hardware for its GPU based distributed computing cluster in early December. The GPU cluster is one of the most important expansion steps of northern data AG. It is expected to expand its scale before the end of the first quarter of 2021 to achieve 404 petaflop (fp64) computing capacity. With this capability, it will become one of the largest GPU clusters of its kind in the world. The world's most powerful supercomputer, Japan's fugaku, has 415 petaflop computing power

as CEO aroosh thillainathan commented: with the smooth and rapid expansion of our GPU cluster (now including our first site in Europe), we will fully meet the huge demand for a stable, reliable, cost-effective high-performance computing infrastructure. In the past few months, our highly professional team has done an excellent job and laid the foundation for future growth in a very short time. We are progressing smoothly, and thanks to the GPU cluster, we will provide HPC services in the fields of artificial intelligence, deep learning, research and rendering as early as the first half of next year, while providing the best scalability and maximum time and cost-effectiveness

the cooling technology to be deployed in the Dutch data center is based on the air cooling system independently developed by the company, which can provide excellent power supply. Using its speed requires inputting data on the microcomputer software to control the efficiency (PUE) value (1..04). The pue value represents the ratio of the energy consumed by the computing device to the energy actually transferred to the computing device. A pue value of 2.0 is considered average, 1.5 is efficient, and a value less than 1.2 is very efficient

in addition to the proprietary cooling technology, the Maastricht data center will also use northern data's own management software, which can document, quickly configure and debug the server hardware. This software can automatically execute the whole process to continuously optimize the operating parameters of the server and the entire HPC data center itself

this new facility in the Netherlands is the first of many new sites planned by northern data AG. Due to the large demand, northern data AG also plans to establish HPC data centers in Germany, Scandinavia and Canada

about Northern data:

northern data Ag develops and operates global infrastructure solutions in the field of high performance computing (HPC). With its solutions for specific customers, the company provides infrastructure for various HPC applications in different fields, such as bitcoin mining, artificial intelligence, blockchain, big data analysis 2011, IOT or rendering. The multinational operating company, formed by the merger of northern bitcoin AG, a German company, and Whitstone us, Inc., an American company, is now the world's leading provider of high-performance computing solutions. Northern data's high-performance computing solutions can be fixed in large data centers or based on mobile high-tech data centers, which can be set up anywhere in the world. The company combines self-developed software and hardware with the concept of intelligence to ensure sustainable energy supply. Northern data group currently has about 150 employees
